Our services include development, planning and implementing migrations, training and ongoing commercial support. With headquarters in London and currently 12+ full-time staff and many part-time members based around Europe (United Kingdom, Italy, Slovakia, Czechia, Poland, Greece, Brazil, ...) we operate as a completely remote organization.

Software Tester

About the job

Part-time (around 30-40 hours per month), ideal for students of GIS or IT
Mergin Maps is a SaaS GIS platform used by tens of thousands of users around a globe. We are extending our testing team to be able to reflect more swiftly to the product development and deliver best product to users. Moreover, it is a fully remote position that can be done from anywhere (as long as you have a decent internet connection).

Key responsibilities:

  • Manual testing of new features of all Mergin Maps stack (iOS, Android app, Web app, Marketing web, QGIS Plugin and Tools)
  • Regression testing before releases
  • Improvement of automatic test suite
  • Testing bugs reported by users and determining their relevance and priority
  • Improving resource centre materials

Requirements:

  • Working proficiency in English
  • Analytical skills
  • Eye for details
  • Motivation to learn

Nice to have:

  • Basic user knowledge of QGIS
  • Basic software development skill
  • Community/Volunteering experience

SecOps and DB Engineer

About the job

Mergin Maps is a SaaS GIS platform used by tens of thousands of users around a globe. It is written in Vue.js, with Flask (Python) backend, deployed on AWS Kubernetes Clusters and as such part of the open-source GIS ecosystem. We are extending our operations team that maintains the AWS deployment setup: robustness, security, availability and setup of web used by hundreds of companies. Mergin Maps is also aspiring for ISO 27001 certification. Moreover, it is a fully remote position that can be done from anywhere (as long as you have a decent internet connection).

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintaining AWS infrastructure
  • Monitoring and improving the performance of the merginmaps.com
  • Working on robustness of the servers
  • Improving security of the server
  • Working towards ISO 27001 certificate
  • Management of BI
  • Managing and working with PostgreSQL databases
  • Contribute to open-source projects related to Mergin Maps toolchain

Requirements:

  • English working proficiency
  • Expert knowledge of cloud computing services, specifically AWS
  • Expert knowledge of containerisation, specifically Docker
  • High knowledge of server and company IT security
  • Good knowledge of database technologies, specifically Postgres
  • Good knowledge of Linux based operating systems
  • Open minded and creative approach
  • Ability to work remotely

Nice to have:

  • Passion for GIS/maps
  • Understanding CI (Gitlab Actions)
  • Experience with spatial databases and PostGIS

Python (pyQGIS) Developer

Lutra Consuling is a consulting company supporting organisations looking to adopt open-source Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Our services include development, planning and implementing migrations, training and ongoing commercial support. We are extending our QGIS development team with Python (pyQGIS) Developer role. The team of QGIS C++ and Python developers has responsibility for development of QGIS software and QGIS Python plugins for clients around globe. Moreover, it is a fully remote position that can be done from anywhere (as long as you have a decent internet connection).

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop Python plugins for QGIS for clients
  • Develop Mergin Maps QGIS plugin and Mergin Maps Python integrations (db-sync, ...)
  • Do GIS Consultancy for clients
  • Cooperate with the rest of the team on requirements and design choices
  • Interact with the testing team

Requirements:

  • English working proficiency
  • Deep knowledge Python
  • User knowledge of QGIS
  • GitHub & Git version control

  • Ability to work remotely
